Eat in or dine out locally...
Eat in
Fergie's Hut has got everything you need to for dining in the hut, in a lovely cosy environment. Facilities include, including induction hob, combi microwave/grill, fridge, kettle and lots of storage space with everything you need for a relaxing dining experience.
On a warm, sunny evening, there is nothing better than having dinner with the door open, soaking up the views to Binsey. Watch the sun set to the West and enjoy a glass of something special.
We also have a purpose built BBQ and an outside table and chairs with views across open field towards Binsey or Skiddaw. Nice for breakfast in the sunshine or for watching the stunning sunsets we get in West Cumbria.
Maybe have a glass of fizz or two in the hot tub, prior to dinner...? Listen to the peace and quiet and RELAX!
Dine out
There are loads of places to eat out locally, but here are a flavour of our favourites which we think you will like:
The Old Crown, Hesket Newmarket - our favourite local pub. Proper pub with great beer and proper home cooked food.
Woodlands Country House, Ireby - a hidden gem! Outstanding food at a very sensible price. Another local favourite of ours.
Overwater Hall, nr Ireby - fine dining in a luxury, old school hotel environment. Pricey but worth it.
Sun Inn, Bassenthwaite - traditional Lake District pub with decent food.
The Muddy Duck, Caldbeck. Currently a takeaway kiosk, but a new cafe coming soon. Great food and coffee.
Bassenthwaite Lake Station, Dubwath - café for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.
Lakes Distillery, Setmurthy – a proper distillery a couple of miles away – and the bistro serves seasonal food, al-fresco (weather permitting) Fab atmosphere!
Blocks Steakhouse, Cockermouth - if you like your meat, this is the place to go. Excellent steaks here.
Aspava Restaurant, Cockermouth – fabulous authentic Turkish food, something a bit different.
Moon & Sixpence, Cockermouth - small but proper coffee and light bites if you’re in the town.
Moota Garden Centre and Café, nr Cockermouth – home cooked food from local suppliers – breakfast, morning coffee and lunch. Nice!
The New Bookshop Coffee Shop, Cockermouth – a relaxing hub, simple food, excellent coffee.
The Fell Pack Café, Keswick – warm and friendly bistro with flavoursome dishes.
Cockermouth is a proper locals town and is only 7 miles away It has a great selection of excellent cafés, great traditional pub and splendid restaurants. We would always choose here over Keswick, which is usually busy and not half as good for food.
